I write chapter books and middle grade fiction for kids who are braver than they think they are. My stories tend to start somewhere small and a little scary — the dark, a new school, a feeling too big to name — and end somewhere magical, because that's the deal I've always wanted to make with childhood: the scary thing is real, but so is the courage, and the courage usually wins.I'm a mom of three, which is the best writing education I never asked for. Most of what I know about fear, bravery, and negotiating with someone irrational at bedtime, I learned at home.I'm currently at work on new chapter books and middle grade fiction.I'm represented by Amy Nielsen at The Purcell Agency.
